LOCATIONS AND HOURS
AKA Diana Markus
The idea for a community gathering place was always in Diana Markus's head but a conversation with a friend in real estate moved the idea toward fruition.
Markus was handed a lead on a structure in Wales that used to be a bank and she transformed it into an eclectic and homey community meeting place. She opened the first Mama D's Coffee there on May 10, 2012, and quickly adapted the building to suit her needs.
"When I took (the building) over it had nothing in it for a restaurant," Markus said. "Now it's a place where anyone can find fresh smiles and fresh food."
Markus describes the structure as having thick walls, high ceilings, and many windows that make it bright. She said the "hidden gem fills a void in the village of Wales, providing a comfortable space for all ages."
